Perisserosa guttata var. azumai Schilder, 1960

Main characteristics of the species, as described in:
“Perisserosa guttata | A quick ‘how can I tell’” from cowries.info

• Dorsum with large but mostly blurred lacunae
• Blotch on labral side is mostly, but not necessarily absent (present in this specimen)
• Stripes on labrum very coarse and fewer, not moving onto dorsum, no white callus
• Columellar side not callused at all
• Larger, light weight and inflated
• Basal ground color white

Lorenz and Hubert (2000) mentioned that some authors consider azumai a subspecies of guttata, but they could not find consistent conchological features to separate it from guttata guttata.
